Trader Joe’s is a great source of vegan products and Vegan Chicken-less Seasoning Salt is the latest I have come across. (Fun fact: the Paramus location is my TJ of choice.)
As you can see, I decided to try it out on some tofu and to that end, I found the seasoning salt effective. I rarely measure, but I’d say I used three or four tablespoons, and that seemed to do the trick. I’m operating off old memories, but I’d say that the Chicken-less Seasoning Salt gave off a chicken-ish aroma more so than a taste, but presumably this is the sort of seasoning you’d use on chicken, not the sort of seasoning you’d use to emulate chicken… but I really don’t know. It also brings a lovely golden color to the tofu – I presume that’s provided by the tumeric? Again, just guessing. What I CAN say is I thought it brought a delightful flavor to the tofu. We had it over rice with broccoli and soy sauce – I highly recommend it! (This will show up under RECIPES at some point!)
I think it’s fair to say I’m liking the Chicken-less Seasoning Salt and, frankly, I’m a bit of a sucker when it comes to just being willing to try anything that says “vegan” in big letters on the label. In any case, I’m looking forward to experimenting with this in the future!
